The Staying Power of Books

A few years ago – or was it months? – everything was going to be electronic books. Everyone was going to have a fancy box with an LED face and lie in bed "paging" through it. After all, PARC and MIT both said so, didn't they?

Well, have you been in a Borders recently? We can't help but notice people lining up five-deep to purchase fancy printed books.

At the same time, publishers are writing off their electronic publishing divisions.

Publishers have figured out that for now, consumers will pay for a book, but they won't pay for electronic content - and publishers want to stay in business.
